The Latest Review of Boat Shed Restaurant
Sent on the 6th of April, 2010
I took my wife of 31 years to the Boat Shed for Easter. I want to be my wife's hero, of course, but I took a chance on a resturant I had never visited. We had the specialties of the day after crabcake stuffed mushrooms, and a glass of wine each. The meals were among their more expensive. I would say people could be served for 30 dollars a head, but our choices, with a 15% TIPS came to about 50 dollars each. We were seated next to the window and were immediately mesmerized by ducks diving in the water right below us. We saw jellyfish, starfish, something we think was a squid, swans, and seagullls plying their rites of survival. The food was excellant. the steaks were not highly seasoned, but an au jus and a horseradish sauce was provided for mine, and hollandais for my beloved. Those stuffed mushrooms were not the type found at the outback or red lobster. I would argue they were ten times better tasting. As you may have guessed, by the 15% TIPS, the service was spectacular. Our hostess chose the perfect zone between giving us all we needed and leaving us alone. The weather was not the best, and still the view was awesome. I can only speculate on what a fair day with more creatures and more boating activity would be like, but I bet it would be even better. I have been to many 50 dollar/head resturants. I cannot think of anywhere a couple in love would enjoy more.
